Question regarding Hika-serial

I need to build a website where books and photographs are sold with a unique serial number, just 1 - 100 or so, nothing complicated. Customers need to be able to pick their own serial number from the avaliable list, and this number also needs to be reflected on their invoice.

Is this flow possible with Hika Serial? I played around a bit on the demo site (Roman Bridge product), but could not find exactly how to get it working exactly as I wanted.

Hi,

HikaSerial have different generator plugins.
I think that the most appropriate generator for you is : series generator.

This generator creates an incremental counter.

In the demo website, you do not change the order status. HikaSerial generate his serial only when the order is in a "confirmed" status (confirmed, shipped or other status which could be configured in HikaSerial).
I have modified a little the configuration (in order to generate serial smaller than 2300 characters), I have confirm an order and send you the confirmation email.

Hi Jerome, thanks, and sorry if I messed about a bit. I see the serial in my order now.

Still curious now, for the book sales: The customer should be able to pick his own serial number out of a list (say 1 - 2300) during the order, is this possible?

Funny set-up, but I have a customer who wants it exactly like this....

Hi,

It is not possible to select his serial number for the moment but it could be implemented using a custom field plugin.
We can imagine a custom field which would propose the serial number selection and which would reserved the serial (for a little period of time).
When the order would be confirmed, HikaSerial would try to assign this specific serial.
