-- HikaSerial version -- : 1.8.3
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.3
-- PHP version -- : 5.4.4

-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : Not an error - but a question on real world business application.

Is it possible to take a single SKU (aka CODE) and then generate multiple serial numbers?

Here's the business case:

We have a discount that is applied if more than 3 items are purchased (there are a lot of different possible variants on these).

For the same product, there is a flat price if they want to buy ALL variations of the item - meaning they are going to get a long list of serial numbers, one for each item (lets say 20 or so, but could increase later).

How do we do this with Hikaserial?

Hi,

When you set the pack association a product, you can specify a quantity.
It indicate the number of serials which has to be generated when the product is bought.

Hi Jerome,

But do they have to be of the same exact type?

The business model is that this isn't a volume purchase, but a purchase of a collection serialized products of each type of product in a group of products that has different variant types. Specifically...

An individual product is a type of software driver that works on a single OS, and with a single API. So three OS, and three APIs means 9 unique serial numbers, not a "volume" purchase of 9 serial numbers of one product.

Hi,

So you have to create 9 packs for your different combinations.
And you can assign 9 packs to a single product without any problem.

Or you can create 9 variants of a single product and assign a specific pack to each variants and not to the main product.

It's up to you but for what I understand of your organization ; yes, it's possible.

Hi,

I hope its okay if I jump in here as I feel its related.

I have a more manual approach, basically user purchases a product and serial is assigned as TBC (to be confirmed) once the sale is confirmed the serial is assigned. But I've encountered a problem. It works fine if the user adds x1 product but if they add x2 product it should be assigning x2 serials ... but now its still only assigning 1. How can I change it so if user adds more than one of that specific product then depending on how many they've added it gives the same amount of TBC serials?

Hi,

Can you please provide details about your configuration ?
Like I wrote in my previous message, there is no issue with the quantity of products and the quantity of serials.

Hi Jerome,

Sure, so I have a few products, each one has a serial pack attached - for a number. the number is only confirmed after the sale is complete/ confirmed - then the unique number is assigned. This is done manually. So at the moment its using I think attach serial. After the sale is complete. Site admin edit the order (attached serial) and replace the TBC number with the unique number that has been assigned.

But for some reason if a customer purchases more than 1 unit of the product then only one serial is attached - this should ideally be as many serials as product units added.

Hi,

I'm afraid that I'll need more concrete details about your configuration ; like screenshots to illustrate your issue.
Otherwise I won't be able to understand what is configured, what is the issue and how to fix it.
Also, it would be interesting to have your HikaSerial version number.

Hi Jerome,

I appreciate that, but this is a confidential project - can I share these details with you privately?

Thank you

Hi,

I don't think that all information are fully confidential ; like the HikaSerial version number or the pack assignation.
You can use the "contact us" form in order to send private messages and continue the support by email ; but you will need to gave information about your HikaSerial license.
