Send email attachment upon consuming serial

Hi Jerome. Sorry to work you so hard but another question...

I have the override to the consume page working well and collecting extra data from my customers.
And as you have said I can use the attach serial plugin to put this information onto an image which can be attached to an email or downloaded.

My question is: How can I make the email with the attached image be sent automatically upon the consumption of the serial?

Hi,

By default, consuming a serial does not update the order ; so there is no order notification email send to the user.
If you want to send an order notification to send a new version of the "attach serial" image ; you have to have/create a consumption plugin to update the order or manually force the notification email.

But I have some difficulties to understand what your are trying to perform ; if you want to send the "attach serial" image afterwards, it means that in the first emails, before the serial is consumed, you don't want to include the image but you want to display the serial in the email (so the user will have the information to consume it).
Am I right ?

Thanks very much for your reply which is very clear.

Yes, your understanding of what I am trying to do is correct.

When they first make the order they receive a consume serial. When they consume the serial they will provide extra data which is stored in the extra data fields. This data will then be attached to an image which will then be emailed to them or they will be provided with a download.

Hi,

So, like I said in my previous message, it means that you have to use a modified version of the attach serial plugin in order to not attach the image when the extra data are not present ; or you can base it on the serial status (so only when the serial is "used" the plugin will attach it)
You also need a custom consumer plugin in order to force the order notification email when a serial is consumed.
It is the only good way I see to have the process you want
