Designing the category list display

-- PHP version -- : 7

Hi guys,

I am building a theme for the Hikamarket frontend suite.
I really love the feature that i can do this in the frontend!

But the designing is difficult for the category list.
Instead of the folder image i would like to do this with icons (font-awesome).
But there is no class for the category when open.

I would be nice to have a class for that. Or that you guys change all images for icons.
Also the account images and stuff. That i can choose a library for images would be nice.
I use font-awesome for everything but maybe some people do not :-D

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you want to customize exactly.
What "folder image" are you talking about ?

Hi,

That tree is displayed thanks to the "otree" lib and because it display more than the folders and the icons, it is not possible to use classnames for the elements.
As you can see, there is also images for the "lines" and for the "-" and "+" blocks.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to handle that using front-awesome or other ; and changing the icons by something with another dimension will break the design (and alignments).

Thats to bad...
Painfull for the eye and usability if you ask me :)

I hope there is coming an other library to show this tree in the future.
The new design of 3.0 in the backend is great but if i see this it is a pain in the ass haha

Hi,

oTree is an home made library that I created several years ago.
That library is fast, flexible and optimized.
If you have ideas to make the display of the tree "nice" using only CSS, we are aware and open to suggestions.

But I'm afraid that oTree is the best choice and the only choice for our components. No other lib is providing such kind of asynchronous features and such level of flexibility.
Customization wasn't my primary goal but it is possible to customize the display. HikaShop do not use the same icons in the backend for example.

Sorry i know i am harsh on these things, do not take it personal ;-)

I won't take it personally. But please provide constructive arguments.
I don't think that talking about "pain in the ass" won't make things go in the right direction.

Hi Jerome,

Sorry maybe that was a harsh expression :-)
It was more ment like good design and the otree does not fit in the new 3.0 design of Hikashop.
There is a Dutch expression and i took an english one and it was more nasty than i ment :-P

Her are some arguments:
- Phone/tablet friendly: on tablet or phone (i try to navigate in the tree but is difficult)
- when i search on desktop i want to go down with arrows and enter
Now i must use the mouse to click on it.
- Desin of the tree is old fasion (windows 95 style)
- Not flexible enough to create own design for the tree
- you use images so it is a http request and it can also be a iconfont

I wil try to change the whole otree images and look how the design is than.

Hi,

That's sure that the icons are a with an "old design". I did not created images, I used some existing resources and I was mostly focus on the code itself.

If you have examples of tree design, feel free to share them with us.
About the support of the keyboard, it is something that we could see to implement. I already did implement such keyboard support for the namebox system so it shouldn't be to hard to do it for oTree.
