Restricting Buying to Canada And US +

Hello:

How can I restrict a user to enter addresses with Canada and U.S?

Currently, I have setup tax based on the zone. For example, Ontario (Canada) has 13%. This tax shows up only after the user enters the address. What I like to do is to present the taxes based on Geolocation id of the user.

Hi,

You can use Zone restrictions for your shipping methods and the setting "force shipping regardless of the weight".
So if there is no shipping method available for the zone, the checkout won't be able to be completed.

The other question is how can I present tax based on the GeoLocation Id of the visitor. Currently, the tax is displayed after the user enters his/her address?

Is there a document regarding the format of the geolocation information returned and how can I access within my site?

Hi,

You can do that with the geolocation plugin:

The current country of the user arriving of the website will be set automatically by the geolocation plugin so the user with see the taxes to be applied to his country based on how you configured your tax rules.

Thanks for the help.

I will need more than country information.

We, in Canada, have different taxes in different provinces. What I want is that if a visitor is coming from Province of Alberta, I how Alberta taxes and if the visitor is from Ontario, then Ontario taxes. Please note that the site I am working on is for Canada and US.

Beside the country, what other information is returned by the plugin and how can I access this information from within my site?

Hi,

There is no option to do geolocation at the state level, only at the country level as the geolocation services we integrate with (which are free to use), do not offer that information.
A custom plugin would be necessary in that case.
