Is Payment Step Required in Checkout

-- Joomla version -- : 3.1.5

I have only one payment method (Authorize.net SIM API). is the payment step still required during the checkout process?

I have
Auto select default shipping and payment methods set to Yes
Auto submit shipping and payment methods selection set to Yes

If I do not add a payment step to the checkout process then customers are directed to the success page without submitting their CC information via the Authorize.net SIM gateway.


Since there is only one payment method available, the payment screen where all they can do is click next seems like an unneeded screen.
