I have a product that i would like to set a user group of "registered" after they purchase, which is an option, but if the user is already registered, or a level with more access, does purchasing another product with the "registered" setting take away their current privileges? I have a number pf products people can buy after they've been promoted to higher access levels, so i need the group after purchase not to remove thier current access...

Hi,

No, the system doesn't remove the user groups. Since Joomla 1.6, Joomla supports multiple groups for each user, and thus we only add the group to the user for each product of the purchase. So he won't loose any privilege.

Just to clarify, this will add the user group specified (perhaps a bit confusing if the user is currently a higher level access AND now the lower level of access at the same time) for example the following:

user level "basic" does not have hikashop multivendor access to create products
user level "advanced" does have hikashop multivendor access to create products

will the "advanced" user be restricted on the vendor pages if they have just purchased a product that adds the "basic" group?

Hi,

The user will have both groups "basic" and "advanced", depending the organization of the rights, the "basic" won't restrict the "advanced" part, specially if "advanced" in a child of "basic".

Please note that HikaMarket have his own plugin "vendor group after purchase" if you want to change the vendor rights and not the user rights.
