Characteristics not appearing on front end

After importing products the characteristics do not appear in the product listing.

The back end shows the characteristic added.
The button on the category page changes to "Show Options" but the product display does not have the characteristics.

Is there a setting to turn on the display at product level?

I have tried deleting the characteristic in the back end and re entering it but it is still the same problem.

So in the backend the display and edition of the variants is correct ?
What if you create a new test product and add manually variants to it ? Is it working fine ?

If not, so it comes maybe from a view override, some HTML has potentially been removed.
Please check if the view "product / show_block_characteristics" has been edited, if yes so please backup it and remove the override.

The Characteristic appears ok if I add a product manually and add the characteristic.

If I delete the Characteristic from the product that has been imported, save the product then add it manually then it appears on the front end.

So it must be a problem to do with the way the characteristic is imported with the csv file.

It seems that there is indeed an issue with the csv file.
The strings should be quoted, and the content is not corresponding to the column name, for example the description is "0", please verify your csv file content.

If this product is a variant, the product_parent_id must be different than 0, and must be the real id of its parent, else it will not be associated correctly.

I recommend to read that documentation:

And export one product with variants to see how the csv file is formatted.

Thankyou for your response.

The products are not variants so do not have a parent ID to attache to them. They have a Characteristic associated to each product which has about 6 variants.

I have checked the file and the fields seem to be aligned ok, the 0 in the description was as intended.
I added quote marks to the Variant description.

I deleted the characteristic on one product and added it again manually then exported it. I then checked that the same fields were populated for the csv import but still the Characteristics do not appear on the front end when imported..

Sorry for the late reply, do you have solved your issue ?
Please send us back the latest csv file you made to check it and try a local import in order to tell you what's happening.

We recently added a fix regarding the auto publish variants, so your variants were maybe not published by default after the import...
