Hi,

There was only an issue with the Joomla tags ; but end of June, we added a patch in HikaShop 2.6.3 to fix that.
So if you are using tags ; you can re-download HikaShop 2.6.3 in order to be sure to get that patch.

So - at this point, do you recommend upgrading to 3.6 for Hikashop-powered sites? Or would it be better to wait a bit for any bug-squashing (or for the August release of Hikashop?) What course is the safest and best right now - upgrade, or wait?

While J3.6 might not pose a "threat" for HikaShop, you should make sure that all your other Joomla extensions and templates are "J3.6 ready". (I've seen some nasty horror stories of bad surprises on other forums and sites all across the web...)

In any case, and of course needless to say (!), a complete, restorable site backup before major updates should be mandatory.

Hi,

That's sure ; a backup is mandatory before any update.

Just curious - it's been about a week now that 3.6 has been out. My hosting service is bugging me to upgrade Joomla for security reasons. I don't want to upgrade, though, till I know the coast is clear of "bugs," and until I am assured that Hikashop will continue to function properly within the upgrade.

Any word yet on that? At this point, do you recommend upgrading - or would you still hold off (which was the recommendation last week?)

Also - I know you've been working on an upgrade of Hikashop, for release in August. How is that coming, and is there a scheduled release date? Is it preferable to update Joomla before or after upgrading the new Hikashop version once it's available?

If it helps, I upgraded about 50 sites to 3.6 without any issues and that included several with Hikashop/Hikamarket installed.

Best regards
Trevor

Hi,

No one reported any problem between Joomla 3.6 and HikaShop's latest version.
So if you use only the HikaShop extension on your website, it shouldn't be a problem.
I can't comment for the other extensions you might use on your website.

What we really recommend is that for any update, you do a copy of your website, test the update on the copy of the website and once you feel confident, do a backup of the website and update it. That's the safest way of handling it.

We are indeed planning a minor release during august. There is no release date yet.
You might be talking about the release of the 3.0. In that case, it won't be in august. It will be when it is ready. We hope to be able to release at least a beta before the end of summer.
