Product Options and Custom Fields

I am using the options feature for products. The feature works fine except it doesn't ask user to provide information for custom fields related to the optional product. Is there a straightforward way to remedy this?

Hi,

There is no way to display the option custom item field on the main product page when the option is selected.
What can be done is to assign this custom item field on the main product and add some css properties to hide it by default and add javascript to display it based on the option.

So it require javascript knowledges.
