Tax by Characteristic

In the UK clothes below chest size 33" are VAT exempt as they are considered childrens sizes.

Can anyone direct me to an article which would show me how to adapt the tax by the size characteristic, rather than having to create an extra product for childrens sizes?

I'm following this thread because I don't think you can actually do that in native HikaShop, but who knows. Maybe there's a workaround we haven't heard of yet.

In the end though, I believe this needs to be a customization on your site to send different taxability codes based on characteristics, using a modified version of one of the automated tax calculation integrations, like AvaTax.

If your store is small it will certainly be easier to do separate products and just let the normal product tax handling do its thing. However, if your store is large with many characteristics across most products, custom development could make this work seamlessly (and accurately!) for you.
