Cannot access Category Menu Items

-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : Cannot use object of type stdClass as array

When attempting to open a Category Menu Link Item, we get the following error:

Cannot use object of type stdClass as array

Along with a "Return to Control Panel" button which goes to a "Page not found" error screen.

Please advise as to corrective measures to make the Categories accessible in the admin main menu.
