product image icon formatting

There are several possible roots to this kind of issue, can you in order to better help you provide an Url link in order to analyze and test by our selves ?
On your side, can you check this :
- I suspect some css command that stretch your image, use the inspector tool to check this point.

The issue comes from your template's CSS.
To counteract the streching of the thumbnails there, you can add such CSS:
img.hikashop_child_image {
width: auto !important;
}

Also, if you want to increase the size of these thumbnails, you can do it with CSS as explained there:
