Gift certificate

-- HikaShop version -- : 3.2.1
-- HikaSerial version -- : 2.0.1
-- Joomla version -- : 3.8.2
-- PHP version -- : 7.0.19
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : firefox 57

We have several questions, problems:

1. Is it possible to use a gift certificate at separate shoppings? For example if someone has a 100 EUR gift ceritficate, and by the first shopping the customer buys a 50 EUR product , can he use the leftover of the certificate by the next time?

2. We would like to give discounts on gift certificates, without affecting its shopping value. For example: the 100 EUR gift certificate can be bought for 90 EUR, but the one, who uses it, can buy products for 100 EUR. Is it possible?

3. We find the settings of the gift certificates very complicated and the given documents are not detailed enough. Can you provide a detailed description for the general settings of a gift certificate?

4. We also could not set, that when someone buys a gift sertificate, no shipping fee is counted. We attached the #hikaserial:attachserial:1 file to the product, but it still does not work.

Our webpage is under development, therefore it is accessible through a subdomain, for which a password is required. I can give you that in private message.

Hello,

1 - The HikaShop coupons do not have such kind of feature.
But if you want to have something similar, you can see to use the "user points" system ; it will be more like a sum of credits that the customer will be able to use.
And with HikaSerial you can generate serials which can give specific amount of "user points".

2 - The generator plugins base their generation on the price of the final product ; which includes discounts.
If you don't want to include discount it would require a little development or an adjustment in the configuration (like increasing the percentage of the price to have something greater than 100% ; or using fixed values).

3 - There is no setting for the gift certificates nor documentation.
A gift certificate is what you want to configure/create ; HikaSerial provide the tools which allow you to do such with a very high flexibility.
You can choose to use the "coupon generator" or the "user points" one ; you can choose to include an image or a PDF into the email ; you can choose to send a specific email to another person with the image or PDF...
But you can also generate a classical (random) serial number without any extra data and authorize that serial to be used in a physical shop as a gift certificate.
The notion of "gift certificate" is really huge.

4 - Shipping is related to the configuration of the product weight, HikaShop global configuration and shipping method.
It has nothing to do with HikaSerial.

PS : Thanks. If we need some access, we will ask for it.
But it won't be via "private message" it will be exclusively via our "contact us" form (with an URL to the forum thread where the credentials has been asked so the support team will know what to do).

Hi,
Thanks for the quick answer.

1. We have already turned on the user points system, but we don’t see how these can be used as gifts. Can you be more specific in how to „generate serials which can give specific amount of "user points"? How can we give these points to a third person?
2. You said we have to adjust the configuration. But where do we have to set it?
3. How can I choose to send a specific email to another person with the image or PDF?
4. Ok, than could you please tell us how can we achieve not having shipping fee in case of buying a gift certificate?

The coupon this way is not user-friendly at all...
Having read all the documentation we are still unable to set the user points as gifts. We need a simple gift certificate which automatically generates, does not need the intervention of the administrator and can be spent at different times.

Hello,

The current implementation of the "points generator" and "points consumer" is to use the consumption system.
So the customer gets a serial (a code) that he has to use in the website to credit its account with the according number of points.
We choose that way to allow the customer to offer the code to somebody else. That other person would have to create an account in the website, use the serial and get the points.

The rest regarding the usage of points to buy products is related to the HikaShop "points" payment plugin.
And because that plugin allow a customer to use points to have a dynamic discount ; customers can spent the points when they want (and in several times).
In such process, there is no need for an administrator to do anything.

Hi,
The system knows a lot, but the documentation is week, and hardly understandable...

We got up to the point, that the customer gets a serial (a code), but what do we have to set, so the third person, after a registration could spend it?

Tanks!

Hello,

By performing a consumption of the serial in your website :
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/1...onsume-features.html

The easiest way is to add an HikaSerial module in your website ; so you will have a textbox where you can enter the serial and get the points.
CF:

So the customer gets a serial (a code) that he has to use in the website to credit its account with the according number of points.
We choose that way to allow the customer to offer the code to somebody else. That other person would have to create an account in the website, use the serial and get the points.

Hi,

Thank you, it works now!

We still have 2 questions:

1. How can the customer check his points?

2. . We would like to give discounts on gift certificates (created from user points), without affecting its shopping value. For example: the 100 EUR gift certificate can be bought for 90 EUR, but the one, who uses it, can buy products for 100 EUR. Previously you said, that it requires a little development. Can you help us in it?

László

Hi,

1 - You can see it during the checkout (via the "points" block).
Otherwise it would require some view override within HikaShop (in such case, please open a new thread in the HikaShop section of the forum).

2 - If you're just selling one gift certificate (or few) ; the easier would be to have a fixed value in the point generator(s).
Otherwise, another solution would be to have a percentage higher than 100% in order to compensate the discount (like 111.111%).

Hello,

We are interested in implementing the solution suggested above for the points option. But, I could not find any documentation regarding options to use points as a guest user. Is this even possible?

Thank you in advance,

Guy.

Hello,

"User Points" is a feature related to HikaShop.
HikaSerial have some feature which interact with the system but if you do have questions regarding how to pay with points ; you have to ask the HikaShop support team in the HIkaShop section of the forum.

But, if you just try to understand the global situation ; knowing that a guest account do not have an account ; no login/password to authenticate itself, you would deduce that a guest can't have points since he won't be able to use them afterwards.

Hi,

Is it possible to set, that a customer is not allowed to buy a gift certificate from a received gift certificate (created by user points)? It is important because if we give discount on a gift certificate as we mentioned above, and the customer starts to buy it repetitevly, he/she will earn money insted of buying a product.

Thanks

Hello,

No ; The system can't know that it's from a gift certificate since you're using points and it's not part of HikaSerial.
There is no kind of "logic" which can allow HikaSerial to not perform that action.

But you should more look at the way to not allow a product to be bought using points.
Or you can simply add a "product limitation" on the gift certificate product ; forbidding that this product can be bought more than one time.

Hello,

I'm sorry but I gave you all the information in my previous message.
And I also precised that the usage of points is not related to HikaSerial or the support I provide here.
If you want to know more about the points you can post in the HikaShop section of the forum.

Hello Jerome,

We are trying to integrate Hikaserial with the consume feature along with the module to charge the points but we get the Unknown code error each time. We checked that the coupons are set to assigned and made several attempts to make it work. We have the Hikaserial points coupon module in the checkout page. When we manually added a user to the coupon it gave us a success message but the points where not added to the user in AltaUserPoints instead using the coupon added the points to the user itself in Hikashop.

We did notice that the Hikaserial coupon plugin has an option to select the Points mode but it has only one option which is HikaShop user points.

We read the documentation several times and can't find a reason for it not to work.

Pleas advice.

Thank you in advance,

Guy.
