So for example i add a user and i assign them to a group called gold user, then when i login with that username and password it will display hikashop pertaining to gold user group which i have setup in hikashop that will show gold user's catalogue with gold user's discounted prices? It integrates with the joomla user groups directly. So yes, you will be able to do that.
