If you don't want that the whole page reload, you have to enable the "Use AJAX when possible for add to cart buttons" option in Configuration > Main > Advanced. So you have made an override, and I think that it's this override which cause the reload of the whole page. In all cases, the page is reloading too on the other website. You can see it thanks to the loading icon in your browser, or by using the browser console.
