Why?")* I'm pretty sure. I think the manufacturer folder is lost at some point. Why?")* The issue is indeed that you deleted the main manufacturer/brand category where all the manufacturers/brands should be in. That's why the system is lost. If the reinstallation didn't fix the issue, You should empty the tables hikashop_product_category and hikashop_category in the database via PHPMyAdmin and reinstall again. That will remove all the categories and brands and put back the default ones properly. Then you can recreate your categories and brands and use the mass actions system ( menu System>Mass actions ) to add them all back to categories/brands.
