Import as CVS (not as XLS) .. and it is best to do it via Open Office (calc). Excel adds funny stuff. To ensure you are importing heading row correctly, firstly export a product to see their format. As a test, try re-importing that file to isolate any issue with it. Paste you data into that Spreadsheet, save, then try importing that saved CSV. --- Don't look at what is and ask 'why?'; look at what isn't and ask 'Why Not!'
