| [](/forum/33-customers/910766-custom-user-fields-not-saving-after-joomla-3-to-joomla-5-migration) | [Custom user fields not saving after Joomla 3 to Joomla 5 migration](/forum/33-customers/910766-custom-user-fields-not-saving-after-joomla-3-to-joomla-5-migration "-- HikaShop version -- : 6.5.2 -- Joomla version -- : 5.3.4 -- PHP version -- : 8.3.33 We have recently migrated a website from Joomla 3 to Joomla 5 and upgraded HikaShop Business to version 6.5.2. When editing a customer through the HikaShop administrator area, values entered into the following custom user fields are not being saved: Field ID 29: e_CopyMinderKey Field ID 37: e_Product Field ID 41: e_MSValid The customer record appears to save successfully and no error is displayed. However, the values disappear when the page reloads and remain NULL in the database. We have checked the field definitions in #__hikashop_field. All three fields: * Use field_table = user * Are published * Have backend editing enabled * Are not read-only The physical columns also exist in #__hikashop_user: e_CopyMinderKey — text, NULL allowed e_Product — text, NULL allowed e_MSValid — text, NULL allowed The field names and physical database column names match exactly, including their case. We tested this against HikaShop user ID 1209 / Joomla user ID 10333. Before saving: e_CopyMinderKey = NULL e_Product = NULL e_MSValid = NULL We then entered values into all three fields through the HikaShop customer edit screen and saved the record. A direct database query afterwards showed that all three values were still NULL. The relevant query was: SELECT user_id, user_cms_id, user_email, e_CopyMinderKey, e_Product, e_MSValid FROM #__hikashop_user WHERE user_id = 1209; There are no related PHP, HikaShop or database errors in Joomla’s everything.php log. The save completes and redirects/reloads normally. The database columns currently use utf8mb3_general_ci, although the values we tested were ordinary text and dropdown/radio selections. The field configurations are: Field 29: * Table: user * Name key: e_CopyMinderKey * Type: text * Published: Yes * Backend: Yes * Read-only: No Field 37: * Table: user * Name key: e_Product * Type: singledropdown * Published: Yes * Backend: Yes * Read-only: No Field 41: * Table: user * Name key: e_MSValid * Type: radio * Published: Yes * Backend: Yes * Read-only: No Could you please advise: 1. Is there a known issue in HikaShop 6.5.2 affecting custom user fields after migrating from Joomla 3 to Joomla 5? 2. Are mixed-case legacy column names such as e_CopyMinderKey still supported? 3. Is there a database migration or field resave process that needs to be run? 4. Is there a particular request handler or HikaShop file we should inspect to see why these fields are being excluded from the update? 5. Could an administrator view override created under the old HikaShop/Joomla installation cause the fields to display but not be submitted or processed? Thanks") Category: [Customers](/forum/33-customers "How to manage your customers and their access") Topic started 2 months 2 weeks ago, by [Storm](/forum/user/42764-storm "View Storm's Profile") [Last Post](/forum/33-customers/910766-custom-user-fields-not-saving-after-joomla-3-to-joomla-5-migration#373112 "Hi, Thanks for the very detailed report, it made this quick to pin down. You found a real bug in HikaShop and it is directly linked to the Joomla 3 to Joomla 5 migration. I reproduced it here with a field named e_CopyMinderKey and I've fixed it. The cause is the capital letters in the field name key. When HikaShop prepares the data of a record before writing it, it normalizes the column names to lower case, so e_CopyMinderKey is passed as e_copyminderkey. Under Joomla 3 that made no difference, since MySQL column names are not case sensitive. But since Joomla 4, Joomla's updateObject() compares the name you give it with the columns of the table letter for letter, and silently drops anything that doesn't match exactly. So the column is simply left out of the UPDATE query: no error, "Successfully Saved", and the value still NULL. That is why it started the day you migrated. To answer your questions: 1. Yes, now confirmed, and it affects any custom field with an uppercase letter in its name key, on the user, address, order and product tables alike. 2. They are supported again with this fix. HikaShop has been forcing new field name keys to lower case for years, which is why only fields created on your old installation are affected. 3. No migration or resave is needed. Note that creating a new record was already saving these fields correctly, it is only the update of an existing record that was losing them. 4. It was in checkFields() in administrator/components/com_hikashop/classes/field.php, at the line that lowercases the column name. 5. No, your view overrides are not involved here. When this occurs, the customer must then click on a menu item to access his orders or products. The problem is, sometimes the customer does not know which menu item to click to access his orders or products.Often they click on the products page which is for users who have not already purchased. Instead, I would like to publish a module with Registered access only on my homepage that displays simply the user's orders or products. That way, when a logged-in user arrives on my site's root (i.e. home page), he sees a module that displays his orders or downloads that he can click on to access his purchased products. Is there a way to do this with the Hikashop content module? Or do I need to create a custom module using the code from the orders view or downloads view files. Thanks in advance, Brett") Category: [Customers](/forum/33-customers "How to manage your customers and their access") Topic started 3 months 2 weeks ago, by [brettv](/forum/user/68705-brettv "View brettv's Profile") [Last Post](/forum/33-customers/910686-orders-or-downloads-view-inside-a-module#372708 "You can create a multiple menu items as: menu Type > Hikashop > Customer orders menu Type > Hikashop > Customer download space And thisplay this menu in a module. - Your Orders - Your downloads") 3 months 2 weeks ago by [oxido](/forum/user/29793-oxido "View oxido's Profile") | Replies:6 Views:291 | [Last Post](/forum/33-customers/910686-orders-or-downloads-view-inside-a-module#372708 "You can create a multiple menu items as: menu Type > Hikashop > Customer orders menu Type > Hikashop > Customer download space And thisplay this menu in a module. - Your Orders - Your downloads") by [oxido](/forum/user/29793-oxido "View oxido's Profile") 3 months 2 weeks ago |
| [](/forum/33-customers/909924-dedicated-withdrawal-button-for-orders-in-b2c-online-shops) | [Dedicated withdrawal button for orders in B2C online shops](/forum/33-customers/909924-dedicated-withdrawal-button-for-orders-in-b2c-online-shops "Another new EU complication. For your valued information - a new european union law is coming with Juni 2026, requesting a dedicated withdrawal button for orders in B2C online shops. Details: From June 19, 2026, nearly all online shops and digital service providers selling to EU consumers must implement a withdrawal button in accordance with the new EU Directive 2023/2673 (amending the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU). Here are the main requirements and application details: Who is affected? • All businesses that conclude online contracts with EU consumers, granting them the statutory right of withdrawal (goods, digital products, services). • Exemptions: Pure B2B shops, contracts without withdrawal right (e.g. bespoke goods), or purely offline contracts. Placement & Design Requirements (from June 2026): • The withdrawal button must be clearly visible, easily accessible, and unambiguously labeled (e.g. “Withdraw from contract here” or “Cancel my contract”).[3][2][1] • Where to place it: o Directly in the customer's personal area, wherever order or contract details are displayed. o The button must be available throughout the withdrawal period (typically 14 days after delivery). o Must be accessible and functional on mobile devices as well. • The button is not required on every page, but must be available in the section where customers see or manage their orders or contracts (e.g. “My Account”, “Order History”, “Contracts”).[1] • Clicking the button must open a confirmation page where the customer completes the withdrawal. o After submission, the shop must immediately send a confirmation receipt (for example, via email).[2] • The design and labeling of the button must not be misleading or hidden. Legal consequences of non-compliance: • Risks: Warnings, fines, extended withdrawal periods, and other sanctions if the button is missing or incorrectly implemented.[3] • The requirement applies strictly for the duration of the statutory withdrawal period; after that, the button may be removed. Technical Implementation Tips: • Ensure accessibility (e.g. screen reader compatibility). • For multiple orders/contracts, each must have its own withdrawal function. • Both the button function and the confirmation email should be properly logged/documented for compliance reviews. In summary: From June 2026, every online shop serving EU consumers must add a clear, easily accessible withdrawal button to customer areas where contracts or orders are shown. The process must be as simple as making a purchase, and an immediate confirmation must be provided after use. Exact details and further guidance can be found in the new regulation. Observations: If I manually delete the cart entries for that user via the Joomla administrator, the user can log in again without issues. I would like to change this, so that when someone registers, they are automatically redirected to a custom landing page: laussanne.be/index.php/registratie-voltooid I believe, for another website, with a previous HikaShop, we had the possibility to add a custom redirect page after registration, but I don't seem to find that setting now. It generated "images/com_hikashop/upload/XYZ.jpg could not be opened when trying to generate its thumbnail" (I removed the full path name, but it is logged). It should be looking in media/com_hikashop/upload/safe/ by default for the Ajaz Image custom field type. It displays the full-size image instead, which can be problematic/slow for larger images. Related usability issues include that if the image size limit is set, it allows the upload and displays a green image bar, but no error occurs until after submission. This gives the false impression (especially that green bar) that the images were of good quality. I know they receive an upload file that is larger than the maximum upload size after they submit, but it sends a confusing message, especially on mobile. Even added helper text, but people are still getting frustrated. Ideally, there should be a check before upload with Ajax and display an error message similar to the file type error, and at the very least, not a green bar, as it gives the wrong impression.")
