Most of our users have a test website (either locally or online but not accessible by others) where they prepare their website with hikashop on it. Once all setup, they move it to the production website. Some use akeeba backup for that but others just do it manually by exporting/importing their database via phpmyadmin and copy the files via FTP. Concerning updates, there are two type of users: the ones who make a backup and update hikashop on the production server directly. others who make a copy of their production website on a test website and update there, test that everything is working and only then push the update to the production website. Thanks for the reply. all makes sense. Was just trying to get a feel for how people updated there sites without losing customer information, sales etc. Please [Log in](/login?return=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuaGlrYXNob3AuY29tL2ZvcnVtLzQtaG93LXRvLzE0OTI1LWhvdy10by1kZXBsb3ktaGlrYXNob3A/dG1wbD1tYXJrZG93bg==) or [Create an account](/register) to join the conversation. - **[nicolas](/forum/user/63-nicolas "View nicolas's Profile")** - [![nicolas's Avatar](https://www.hikashop.com/media/kunena/avatars/resized/size144/users/avatar63.png?1793428657)](/forum/user/63-nicolas "View nicolas's Profile") - [ Offline](/forum/user/63-nicolas) Less More - Posts: 86322 - Thank you received: 14281 - - 15 years 6 months ago [\#14965](#14965) by [nicolas](/forum/user/63-nicolas "View nicolas's Profile") Replied by *[nicolas](/forum/user/63-nicolas "View nicolas's Profile")* on topic *[Re: How to deploy HikaShop?](/forum/4-how-to/14925-how-to-deploy-hikashop#14965 "Hey everyone, What is the best way to deploy HikaShop to a production environment, both initially and when adding new functionality to an existing production system?")* Updates of hikashop can be installed like when you first install it. It keeps all the settings and data you already have. So it's really easy to do. Then, it depends how you handle updates in general (with pre production server or directly on your server) as I explained above.
