I am building a small site that will sell tables at a fair. These tables will have 2 prices - 1 for a vendor and 1 for a flea market. A table can only be sold once, thus the product quantity is always 1 for each table. I am able to use the characteristics to display a radio button that allows a buyer to select either a vendor characteristic or a flea market characteristic for the main product (the table). The table is added to the cart successfully. Now... my issue. I need for the table, regardless of the characteristic, to be added to the cart only once. unfortunately, i am able to select both a vendor table (at 20USD) and a flea market table (at 10USD). i do not want the buyer to be able to select the other table type when one has been added to the cart. Is there a straightforward resolution to this? making any PHP updates would not be a problem. Many thanks...")* Hi, You should keep the quantity of each variant as unlimited and only enter the quantity in the main product. The system will then treat the quantity as global for all the variants of the product, like you want. I must have something still not configured correctly. I setup the variants as you suggested, setting the maximum on the product to 1 and the maximum on the variants to unlimited. I am still able to add both variants to the cart when i only want the buyer to be able to add only 1 to the cart, and the product inventory be set to 0. the result being the product is no longer available to be added to the cart. Many thanks...")* Hi, If the quantity of each variant is unlimited, the system considers that that quantity of the main product is global to all the variants. Then, if the quantity of the main product is 0, it basically means that all the variants of the product are not available. What you want is leave the inventory to unlimited or a positive value in the main product. Then it should work like you want. We have a set of feathers (quantity 1) and we want our buyers to be able to choose a micro bead to go with it for free. The characteristic has about 8 colours that the buyer can choose from but if i add the blond color to the cart i can still add the brown color to the cart aswell and I only want to be able to add one color. We have tried the above solution but it's not working for us. What should we do? Many thanks...")* Hi, I don't think that this is possible for the moment like it's said on this [ thread](http://www.hikashop.com/fr/forum/4-how-to/25709-product-maximum-quantity-per-order.html), however for the moment you'll only be able to restrict the maximum quantity per order of your variants regardless of the other product's variants.
