If it's a product listing, you can change the module options for this listing, enable the add to cart button, and disable the link on the product div. If it's in an article, in the backend click on the desired product and then in the toolbar you can find the button "Add to cart HTML link" just copy/paste this link where you want. If I go to the add link function, I can select an option to link to checkout but it doesn't add the product to the cart.
