VAT number for not EU company

Hi,

this question interests both hikashop and hikamarket.
When a user or a vendor register I need to ask them a VAT number if they are a company, so VAT field is mandatory in my case. So I've created a radio button that let user choose if register as private user (without VAT) or as company (so with VAT).

Then I've setted VAT field view limited according to this radio button when user choose company value. In this case the VAT number is shown.

Now, if a company out EU register, it will be asked to fill also VAT field, but for example US company should not have a VAT number (right?), so I would set the limited view only to some countries.

In this case I should have a double limited view:
- first option should limit VAT field according to my radio button (private or company user)
- second option should limit view to some countries, so I need a multi-select dropdown.

Do you think this feature could be implemented? maybe best way would be that on every field (also custom) I can set multiple options combinations for displaying or not that field.
Or any other solution?

Multi restriction is not possible.
Why not simply use three values: private, european company, non european company ?
That way, if you restrict the VAT field to the european country choice, you won't see it for non european companies.

Ok, thanks for your suggestion. We will add a third option in the radio button. Hope anyway you will consider this feature that could be helpfull in cases like mine.

It's not the same. What I'm suggesting in that quote is to create a new custom address field so that you can restrict the VAT field to display only for one value of that field.
What you asked about was about restricting the VAT field to display only for 27 values of the country field.
The display restriction system doesn't yet support multi-value restrictions.

As I said, there is no option to do that.
You can only restrict a field to one value, so one field, not to several of them.
In my quote, the user added a new field where the use can choose between individual, european company, non eurpoean company. And thus you can configure the VAT field to only display for the european company value.

You can click on the "new" button of the menu Display>Custom fields. There create your new field with the different values. Then, edit the VAT field and restrict it to the value you want of the field you just created.

I've tested in the demo for business edition, you can only display a custom field limited to a single value.

Example : I would like to the display of the VAT to the countries of Europe only.
- Do I need to create 28 custom fields for the 28 countries ? It would be huge and not very clever
- I tried to create a "country" zone (Europe), but on the frontend it's in the country list of the address fields (and won't be selected by visitors)
- other types are not good because they don't appear in the backend in the "display limited to" param.

Do you have an idea ?

I succeeded to manage VAT with the above advices from Nicolas :

- 3 radio buttons {French company, European company, International company}
- 2 VAT fields :
* 1 for french company (which is subject to 20% VAT), with the display limited to "French Company"
* 1 for european company (VAT number mandatory), with display limited to "European company"
* and no 3rd field in the case of an international company, no VAT field is displayed.
