unnecessary fields during registration process

when someone should register himself for the checkout or login there are some required fields, the customer has to fill.
In the page this is called the address for the invoice.
Where can I change this? e.g. the telephone number shouldn´t be a required field but a capcha - method should be needed to provide bots.

Where can I find this? would be great to get some help.
