But if I create a coupon with a quota of 1 and auto-apply it, this means that all of my existing customers will automatically get the discount doesn't it? Discounts are directly applied to the products prices before any check can be done. That's why Xavier recommended to change the type of your discount to "coupon". Note that if you turn on the "auto load" option of a coupon, it will be added automatically during the checkout, acting as a discount on the global cart and the customers won't have to manually enter the coupon code.
