So here is the solution that presented itself. Seems it was ALOT easier than I was making it, thanks to everyone for their help. Step 1. Opened Joomla Menu Manager and clicked on the Shop menu item. Step 2. Clicked hikashop options. Step 3. Under details -> Associated Modules -> "click here to ..." Step 4. Parameters for DIV -> item box background colour -> 555555 Done. So simple I am kicking myself for not finding it.
