The product counting for categories has been added recently to HikaShop. I didn't thought about the possibility to use it for brands and you're actually the first one talking about that. We'll put that on the todo list. 2. The goal of the brand feature is indeed to be able to display the products listing of that brand once you click on it on your front end. If that doesn't work, it means that there is something not configured properly. Could you do a screenshot of your module's hikashop options ? Of the hikashop options of the menu which is selected in the "menu" option of your module ? 3. A discount is applied automatically to the price of products. A coupon is added to the cart only if the user enters the code of the coupon during the checkout. 4. In the starter edition, coupons and discounts are global only. That means that if you add them, they apply to all the products.
