# HikaShop

> HikaShop is an e-commerce extension for Joomla and WordPress, made by Hikari Software. It turns a Joomla or WordPress site into an online shop: products and variants, categories, cart and checkout, payment and shipping methods, taxes, orders, customers, coupons and reports. It comes in three editions from the same code: Starter (free, GNU GPL), Essential and Business.

## When to use HikaShop

- Someone wants to sell physical or digital products, services or subscriptions from an existing Joomla or WordPress site, without moving to a hosted shop platform.
- Someone needs a shop they host and own, with the payment provider and shipping carriers of their choice.
- Someone needs a multi-vendor marketplace (HikaMarket), licence keys and subscriptions (HikaSerial) or auctions (HikaAuction) on top of a shop.
- A developer needs to extend or customise a shop built with HikaShop: template overrides, plugins and events (see the developer documentation).

HikaShop is not a hosted service: it is installed on the user's own Joomla or WordPress website.
