#  Mezzanine

Mezzanine is a **template for a venue that sells tickets to its own events**: a concert hall, a theatre, a cultural centre, a festival or a cinema. It is made for **Joomla** and **WordPress** and built for **HikaShop** with its **Booking** and **Seat Map** plugins: the next show opens the home page, the programme lists every show with its dates, a show page lets the visitor pick a date and their seats on the plan of the hall, and the tickets, with a QR code, wait in the customer's account.

Features

- Seventeen style presets: Soirée (a dark house, gold and warm paper), Matinée (a light house, deep blue, the next show beside its picture), Affiche (a poster in cream and vermilion), Opéra (black cherry, rose red and gold), Galerie (white, black and one electric blue, a row for each date), Festival (warm cream, teal and raspberry, round corners) Cabaret (midnight blue and neon pink), and ten for venues of sport, play, music and circus: Stadium (football, grass green on white), Arena (basketball, orange on deep navy), Circuit (motor racing, red on carbon black), Court (tennis, deep green and clay orange on warm paper), Esport (violet and acid green on near black), Open-air (stage-light yellow on night black, for a music festival ground), Rugby (turf green and leather on mud brown), Aquatic (water blue and white, for a swimming pool) Rink (white, black and a red line, for an ice hockey rink) and Circus (tent red and gold on warm cream, for a big top). Each sets the colours, the fonts, the corners, the programme and the hero together.
- The home page opens on the next show that is on sale, taken from its dates in the Booking plugin: its picture (or its YouTube video, muted), its title, its date and a Book button with the price from. Then the programme, what audiences say, the season (passes, vouchers) and a newsletter position.
- The programme as a card for each show with its date on a flag, its kind, its dates and its hall, as a list of dates, or as a month calendar; the visitor switches between them. Months have their heading, and a filter picks the kind of show or a range of dates.
- A show page that starts with the show's picture, then its dates with their availability (good availability, last tickets, sold out) and links to add them to Apple, Outlook or Google calendars, the plan of the hall to pick seats (or a quantity for a standing show), the text, the photographs, the practical facts, the reviews and a side card with the price from.
- Seats held while the visitor decides: the time left shows in the header beside the cart, with a line that says what it counts ("Your cart is held for"), and the checkout lists each seat. Tickets need no shipping: the shipping step only appears for something that weighs. On a phone a bar at the bottom of the show page keeps the Book button in reach.
- HikaShop's thank-you page in the house's colours, with the dates of the order and their calendar links (from the Booking plugin) and, in the customer area, the tickets: one for each seat with its place, its code and a QR code to scan at the door (with HikaSerial).
- Cart drawer, one-page checkout, styled login, profile and order pages.
- A header with an announcement bar, a language switcher, a Book button and the cart; a burger panel on phones; a footer of four columns.
- No photograph in the package: you bring your own.
- Fonts served from your own site; custom 403, 404 and offline pages; English and French.

Each picture is the demo under a different preset, the venue presets with their own events, photographs and seat plans. Click one to open the demo in that preset, then change it from the "Use your own style" button.

Requirements

- HikaShop with its Booking plugin (the dates of the shows) and its Seat Map plugin (the plans of the halls), both sold separately.
- The Cart reservation plugin and the Cart countdown module to hold the seats and show the time left; the free HikaShop Calendar module for the calendar view; the free Comments module for what audiences say.
- HikaSerial, to give each seat a ticket with a QR code (optional).
- A newsletter extension for the newsletter position (optional: the template only gives it a place).
- Joomla 4, 5 or 6, or WordPress 6 or later (block theme).

Module positions (Joomla)

- **Header:** announcement, topbar (the language switcher), logo, menu, header-cta (the time left of the seats), header-icons (the cart), search.
- **Home page:** hero (leave it empty: the template draws the next show; a module there replaces it), programme, quotes, season, newsletter.
- **Content:** breadcrumbs, sidebar-left (the calendar beside the programme), sidebar-right, main-top (the filters above the programme), main-bottom, bottom-a, bottom-b.
- **Footer:** footer-brand, footer-a, footer-b, footer-c, footer-d, footer-bottom.

Installation (Joomla)

- 1) Download the Mezzanine package (tpl\_mezzanine.zip) from our website and install it in System > Install > Extensions.
- 2) Make it the default template in System > Site Templates (Styles).
- 3) Install the Booking and Seat Map plugins, add the Date item field of Booking to the shows, enable booking with events on your shows and give each show its dates; draw the plan of your hall in the Seat Map plugin and attach it to the shows that are seated.
- 4) Publish the HikaShop Products module in programme and season, the Comments module in quotes, the Calendar module in sidebar-left and a filter module in main-top on the programme page; the Cart countdown module goes in header-cta: choose the size Small, the look Text over the time, a clock, and no names for the units, so it sits beside the cart.
- 5) A language appears in the switcher only when it has a home menu item of its own.

Installation (WordPress)

- 1) Install HikaShop, then upload mezzanine.zip in Appearance > Themes > Add New and activate it. The cart of the header becomes a drawer.
- 2) Upload the Booking, Seat Map, Cart reservation, Calendar, Comments and Cart countdown extensions in HikaShop's plugin installer and enable the plugins.
- 3) Open the Shop page of HikaShop and make it your programme: call it Programme, choose the template *Programme* in its settings, and in the HikaShop settings of the page choose the type Product listing and the category that holds your shows. The programme template puts the Filter block above the list and the Calendar block beside it; the header button, the hero and the home page link to the page. After renaming the page, open Settings > Permalinks and save once, so the shows' addresses follow.
- 4) The front page shows the Mezzanine home pattern: choose in each HikaShop block the category of your programme and of your season.
- 5) Pick a preset in Styles > Browse styles.

Settings (Joomla)

Mezzanine is configured from the Joomla template style editor, in four tabs.

**Style**

- **Style preset**: Soirée, Matinée, Affiche, Opéra, Galerie, Festival, Cabaret, Stadium, Arena, Circuit, Court, Esport, Open-air, Rugby, Aquatic, Rink, Circus (a coordinated set of colours, two fonts, corners, programme and hero), or Custom to set your own values in the fields below.
- **Headline font** and **Interface font**: the Google Fonts families of the headings and of the interface (Custom only).
- **Fonts served by this site**: downloads the Google fonts once and serves them from your own site, so visitors' browsers never contact Google.
- **Ink**, **Paper**, **Surface**: the text, the page and the cards and bands.
- **Accent** and **Accent on dark**: dates, prices, rules; and the accent on the picture of the hero and the dark bands.
- **Brand** and **Brand, deep**: buttons; buttons pressed and the footer of a light preset.
- **Line**, **Muted text** and **Alert**: borders, secondary text, and the labels that warn (last tickets, sold out).

**Layout**

- **Show page gallery: thumbnail position** and **size**: where the other photographs sit relative to the main one, and the size of each tile.
- **Announcement bar**: a line above the header (an offer, a closing date); empty hides it.
- **Show the name of the house in the header**, **Logo**, **Name of the house**, **Line under the name**, **Favicon**.
- **Header layout** and **Logo size**: logo left with the menu beside it, or logo centred with the menu below; small to extra large.
- **Footer text**: the line at the very bottom (copyright, legal notice).
- **Header stays at the top when scrolling** and **Back to the top button**.

**Programme**

- **Programme: first view**: a card for each show, or a row for each date; the visitor can switch.
- **Home page hero**: the next show over a full-width picture, or beside it.
- **Play the show's video in the hero**: when the next show has a YouTube address among its pictures, it plays muted behind the title (not on a phone, not when the visitor asks for less motion).
- **Corners**: rounded or square corners for pictures, cards, buttons and fields.
- **Book bar on phones**: a bar fixed at the bottom of a show page with the price from and the Book button.

**Effects**

- **Reveal duration and threshold**: how long a home section takes to appear and how much of it must show first.
- **Next show (hero), the programme, what audiences say, the season, newsletter**: for each, a direction (none, up, down, left, right) and a delay.

Settings (WordPress)

- Colours, fonts and corners are the Styles of the Site Editor: the seventeen presets are in Browse styles, and any colour can be changed there.
- The header, the footer and the templates (home, programme, page, search, 404) are edited in Appearance > Editor.
