In your products listing, there is an export button. You should not have to import categories as they will be imported along with your products.

In the VM export, (previously attached) Only Column A is named..and not separated. All names are in A

~product_sku~^~product_parent_sku~^~category_path~^~product_name~^~product_s_desc~^~product_desc~^~product_price~^~product_full_image~^~product_thumb_image~^~product_availability~^~product_available_date~^~product_currency~^~product_discount~^~product_discount_date_end~^~product_discount_date_start~^~product_packaging~^~product_publish~^~product_special~^~product_tax~^~product_url~

As is the Hika (attached here)

a = product_id

b = product_parent_id

That's because you need to tell excel that ^ is the separator and ~ is the quotation character.
Rename the file to have a txt extension and open it again with excel. It should then ask you about these and then it will open it properly.

If you are still interested i am developing a joomla component to do this that not only will get all your categories, products and their basic information, as well their images directly from virtuemart 2.

Hello again :)

have not been here in what seems like forever :P

however I am back.

like everyone else here , I would also like to Migrate from VM1.3 to Hikashop for another client. This time even seriously thinking about the Business Plan Edition (yet will test the FREE one first and see whats new!)

couple of suggestions regarding a possible migration option;

seeming as all information these-days is contained within the DB , would it not be a more viable option to just copy this data from one table to another?

surely that would be the quickest/most-efficient method?

one would just need to find all the tables (categories) in the VM Table and copy/Convert them over to HikaShop..
after that Products , Images , Orders , Even Shop Details?

Just a thought and glad to see that HikaShop has gone from strength to Strength.

Regards

Reace.

you Guys are Awesome and have excellent Support! Keep up the great Work!.

I only know of VirtueMart 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0, not 1.3:
virtuemart.net/downloads

If it's VM 1.1 or 1.0, the import system that is already in HikaShop should be able to do the job already:
