SSL Settings?

Coming right off of 4+ hours of trying to configure Zen cart; having to edit it's config.php, then rename the administrator directory, while (like a woman in a self-defense class) telling Zen Cart NO I did not want to enable SSL on my local virtual host and then being completely locked out of the cart all together, I was relieved to find your extension!

I was just wondering where the SSL settings are? I will be installing it on a domain that currently does not have SSL and was wondering if there was any documentation on Hika Shop's security settings.

I will upgrade to HikaShop Essential before the weekend is over.

In HikaShop, in the tab "checkout" of the configuration, you have the option "force SSL on the checkout". If you enable it, when users arrive on the checkout, they will be directed to the SSL version of your website.
If you activate that option and that you didn't configure your SSL certificate on your server, you will also have an error during the checkout as your checkout won't be reachable. So you should make sure that your website is accessible via SSL (just try to access it with https instead of http at the beginning of your URL) before turning on that option. If you don't know how to configure SSL on your server, you should contact your hosting company as each hosting company proposes to do it differently...

OK, another issue I am having-

I have a functioning SSL cert, and the cart/checkout process does go to https as expected, but my issue is this...

after viewing the checkout page (https) the site remains connected over https, instead of reverting back to http for non checkout pages.

Now this wouldn't be too big of a deal except for IE users.... obviously one would try to use https as little as possible to avoid any issues with the IE browser.

Anyways, the configuration for "Force SSL on Checkout" is selected but.... SSL should be restricted only to the checkout pages... it is not.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Indeed what that function does is that it activates the SSL if you reach the checkout without it. There is nothing to deactivate the SSL on other pages.
That would require a specific plugin to be made. I've made it but it's not tested. Here it is.

Hello Nicolas,

I have a question about the plugin you made for non-ssl outside the checkout. I´ve installed the plugin but activated the checkout is no more using ssl. Maybe you can have a short look in the plugin? Would be a great help.

For more details or others questions let me know.

Great work you and the others do with hikashop.

Best regards from Berlin

Hi,

We don't have such problem on our end. Which version of Joomla are you trying on ? Do you have other extensions installed ? Do you have the same problem on a vanilla install of Joomla ?

Hello Nicolas,

After spending TOO much time on redSHOP :( I found your EXCELLENT extension Hikashop this week and I got it up and running in a couple of days. :cheer: :woohoo:

Haven't been able to test it properly yet because I am waiting for my SSL Cert to be setup my the hosting company.

I have read that you have the nossloutsidecheckout.zip plugin and that at the time of your original post it was untested.

Is it still untested or is it ready to go?

I am looking forward to finishing the initial setup and testing next week.

Thanks again for what so far has been a GREAT experience with what so far looks like a GREAT extension.

Hi,

If you are using Joomla 3.x then you must have to change few things in plugins.

Like first you have to replace <install> with <extension> in xml file

And also in php file change onAfterInitialise to onAfterRoute

Hi,

As explained before, that plugin is installed by default when you install HikaShop.
So there is no need to install it yourself as it is already there.
