Does Hikashop Shopping Cart contain SSL Certificate?

Hi,

SSL cetificates have to be purchased through your hosting company and setup on your webserver.
Once done and that it is working, HikaShop is compatible with SSL certificates and you can simply activate the "Force SSL on checkout" option of the configuration of HikaShop to activate your SSL certificate on your HikaShop checkout.

If we enable Hikashop eWay Payment plugin and Hikashop credit card payment plugin. Will both have to use SSL? The reason I ask is because the bank wants us to have a payment gateway. So since we are looking at the 3rd party payment gateway, we noticed in the Hikashop there is a Hikashop eWay Payment plugin installed. Does this mean SSL is still required?

Hi,

The eWay payment plugin is a plugin where the user put his credit card information directly in your website.
So with eWay, a SSL certificate would be required for your website.
Otherwise, some critical information could transit between your customer and your server without any encryption security which is not a good thing.

Some payment plugin redirect the customer to the payment plateform (like paypal), the website do not require a SSL because it does not receive any critical information.
If you use a payment system where your website receive the credit card data, you have to secure your website/server/domain with SSL.
