Create new checkout workflow module

Will it ever be possible to create a custom checkout module which can be added into the work-flow (backend HS)? For example, if you want to add 'Gift wrapping' then you could create this module easily in the back-end of HS, add a price for the service with a yes/no opt in button for example. I am guessing that would possibly be a major project but thought I would check in any case...

You can already create additional views for the checkout workflow via plugin triggers. We needed that for our own products.
The user points plugin of HikaShop actually uses the trigger in order to add a "points selector" view in the checkout workflow if activated.

Also, if you want to ask questions to customers during the checkout, you don't even need to code. You can just create a custom field of the table "order" via the menu Display>Custom fields and the user will be able to answer it on the checkout.

However when I try and create a custom field via the menu Display>Custom fields, I cannot change the table from 'Address' to 'Order'. Is that only available with the business edition?

Yes, that's only possible in the Business edition.
