Yes, it's well possible, I'm doing this, too. Have a small notification showing up in the toolbar only with number of items in the cart ("2 items" and then a cart icon, showing up only when something is in the cart), and click on it opens the cart in a popup.
Good luck!

Oh, the way I did it involved a little bit of change in a view (PHP), some loading one Joomla module in another, and the rest was CSS. If you're somewhat fit with these things, you can do it. If not, it would be some crazy effort for me to try explaining it here... I'm also only a user, sorry.

It's not a lot of work. But it'd take a long time writing it all down, describing it, so anyone could do it.
Hope you understand.
There are many ways of doing things. The brief answer to your question is, yes, can be done. If you have a modal extension that can load modules, it's the easiest to i.e. place a "View Cart" button or link somewhere. Or Winkelwagen, as you say.

Hi,
Yes that can be possible, it will require some editions.
What can be done is create a menu type show cart, it can be a hidden one, get the url of that menu, and put it in a html link.
In this link set the class "modal" and add "&tmpl=component" at then end of the url.
You can too potentially find extensions which allow you to display content in popup directly.

Its really easy you just need components anywhere from no-number, the free versions works perfect!
then you just create a custom html module with <a> and create a class modal, i usually use yootheme if your template uses uikit its very easy, also if it has bootstrap3 there you just have to copy a few lines of code.
Take a look at:
