Yes, that's possible.
For the two first dropdowns, you can use a characteristic for each:

Then, for the last one, you can use a custom field of the table "item" as it doesn't change the price:

thanks.. i have length and width with prices as i want but i want the colour to be as in the atatched pic if possible. It does not have any effect on the price and there are 3 colours to choose from

how do i do that please?
from what i can make out about the custom field you suggested that is for when they enter their contact/postal detals and i dont want them to choose the colour there!

You're talking about custom fields of the table "order" or "address". I'm talking about custom fields of the table "item".
So simply do what I said already and you'll get what you want.

Look at the "Table" option when you create a new custom field. You can select either "address", "user", "order", "item", "product" or "entry". If you select "item" there, it will work like you want.

Did you selected "Item" for the "Table" option of your customfield ?
Also, did you published it and set the "Front-end" option of the "Display" tab of your custom field configuration screen to YES ?
