Social Plugin not working

I`ve enabeled and configured the social plugin button as indicated in the product documentation but I still can`t make it work. No buttons are showed in any of the products listed.

Please turn off any kind of caching of joomla and/or your template and try again.

The cachè is disabled in the global configuration option and I don`t see any caching option in protostar template.
I now can see the following under the product titlte:
{hikashop_​social}

i can confirm this problem, it needs to be fixed

The social plugin is a content plugin which replace the tag "{hikashop_​social}" by the social icons.
If you have any kind of cache, or by a way or another, the trigger "onAfterRender" is not called, the plugin won't be able to replace the tag by the social icons.

So, there is nothing to fix but another component/template to configuration in order to remove the cache system.

i am not sure if i understand this right.
Everyone who wants to have their Joomla website performing well will have Joomla caching mechanism.

So you are saying, if we want to use hikashop we should not use caching? is that right?....i hope i got that wrong

Please understand that you can't use a cache system with an e-commerce website.
You can't cache the cart, you can't cache the product stock, you can't cache a lot of dynamic things.
That's why, we always said that you can't use the Joomla cache system with HikaShop.
HikaShop is compatible with Varnish and if you have a complete cache component, you can exclude some part for the cache. At this moment you will ally the performances and the e-commerce features.

Joomla by itself is dynamic CMS, isnt it.......it is surprising for me that hikashop cant work with Joomla caching mechanism, honestly this is a minus, since caching results in much greater site performance which leads to better monetisation of any kind of website.

You mentioned Varnish, while it is great technology, it isn't wide used standard....it would be like saying we should all use NginX, which of course isn't massively adopted as Apache is.

Could you please be more specific about what to do with the template?

@dado023 It's not a problem of HikaShop. You'll have the same issue with any ecommerce solution for Joomla. The issue is the caching system of Joomla which isn't fine grained enough. There exist third party caching extensions for Joomla which you can use instead and which won't have such issues. Basically, if Joomla caches the whole HTML of all your pages, when the user adds something on his cart, he won't see the new cart because the page display is still picked up from the cache. What's even worst is that the cache is the same for everyone on the website so you would have situations where on some pages you would see the cart of other users.
In short, carts should not be cached as their role imply that they are dynamic.
Joomla is dynamic yes, but in another sense. When you change a joomla article text and save, joomla can flush the cache but everyone sees the same article on the frontend at all time and so in that respect, the joomla content is static.

@ceciliasp If you use protostar, there is no caching option in the templates so no need to worry about it.
Did you turn off the caching option of the joomla configuration and the system caching plugin of Joomla ?

Yes, both the System`s Cache option and the pluging are disabled but still can't see the social plugin working.

Should I try a different caching extension?

It might be a solution indeed. There are not mpuch other options anyway.
The social plugin is very simple and just display div or iframe for FB and G+ so there should not be any problem with that in a native install.
