Hello,

I am trying to setup the following menu item structure for my HikaShop store.

Book Store (Listing of brands, parent menu item)
- Brand One (Brand description with product listing, first child menu item)
-- Product page from brand one (second child menu item)
- Brand Two (Brand description with product listing, first child menu item)
-- Product page from brand two (second child menu item)

The listing of brands and individual brand pages are setup and working correctly, but when navigating to an individual product page, the menu item structure is not maintained. For example, book-store/category/681-delmar-cengage-nelson-education shows all of the products in the Delmar-Cengage/Nelson Education brand, but when I click on a product in the brand, the URL becomes book-store/product/716-a-practical-guide-to-teaching-in-the-fire-service. Is there a way to keep the URL like this: book-store/681-delmar-cengage-nelson-education/product/716-a-practical-guide-to-teaching-in-the-fire-service?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

Yes. It's actually the case by default. I suppose that you turned on the "Force canonical URLs on listings" option of the HikaShop configuration and thanks to that, the URL used to access the product page is always the same one, regardless from where you access it. If you turn it off, the system will generate the URL dynamically on each listing and that way you'll get different URLs.

Hello,

I have changed "Force canonical URLs on listings" to "No, generate the URLs", but the same URL structure is in place. Are there any other changes required?

Hi,

Maybe you have some caching on your website preventing you from seeing the change ?
Did you clear your website cache ?

Hello,

I have cleared my browser's cache and the website is not currently using caching. The URLs are still in the old format. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi,

I don't see why the URL would be the same on all the products listings if the "force canonical URLs on listings" option is off unless there is some caching on the pages/modules content.
Maybe you have a view override which customizes the products listing in some way and which creates the issue ? Rename temporarily the folder templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_hikashop/product to something else and that will deactivate all the overrides for the products listings. If that helps, then there is something with the view overrides.

Hello,

I have disabled the product template overrides and cleared the cache, but the URLs are still in the same format. Would I need to setup a sub menu item structure to produce the proper URLs or would this be handled automatically by HikaShop?

Hello,

I can provide access, but I need a secure way to submit the website login information. Can I email you directly or do you have a secure form I could use?

Hello,

I changed 'Force canonical URLs on listings' to 'No, generate the URLs', which fixed one issue, but now '/category_pathway-681' is being added to the end of the URL. Is there a way to remove this portion from the generated URLs? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

I am using version 2.6.0. I changed to 'No, generate the URLs' after updating, so this issue may be tied to the new version.

Hi,

That part of the URL can be removed by simply turning back on the "simplified breadcrumbs" setting of the HikaShop configuration, as it is by default.
