Feature Request - UPS shipping module

Kind of like what's described in this post:

Yes, a shipping plugin for UPS as already been requested. I know that a user is already working on it but I'm not sure of where they are with it.

Sweet! Because to be honest, the shipping part is kind of confusing me right now. We got zones, prices, ins, residential fees etc. Plus I have to make sure there's a weight or Hikashop thinks it's a download but I find out my product is so light I need to use dim weights...

HikaShop convert the weights of your products in the main weight unit of your store before checking that it's empty.

If you set 0.001kg in your product because that product weights 1g, you should consider using the same main weight unit and product units.
The main weight unit is the first weight unit in the list of weight units in the configuration.

So you would have the main weight unit being g and the weight of the product being 1g. HikaShop won't have any problems. I doubt that you could have something lighter than 1g and are made up to the third decimal so as long as your product weights at least 1mg it is feasible with hikashop.

Has there been any progress on the UPS Shipping plugin or an estimated date for release?

We didn't had any feedback from that user since my last post on the subject.

I would need a UPS or FedEx shipping plug-in too. It is very important to my business.

Is it worth waiting for you guys to make a plug-in for ups shipping, like will it be a few months before there's anything available with ups or fedex...? Is there a lot of programming to do? Or should I hire someone on the side to get it done for me?

We got an answer from the previous use who wanted to do it: the programmer he hired to do it left him without notice and without doing it and it seems that it will do without the plugin for now...
On our end we are currently very busy with a lot of things, between support, custom work, improving hikashop, recruiting and moving our office so we won't have time to work on shipping plugins before a few months. I would advise you to hire someone to do it. I don't know if there is a lot of work. But I would say at least a few full days of work. It also depends on what you want to integrate with. If it's just to integrate with rates calculation, it should be 2 days probably:

Then, you have package tracking which will require several days as well etc...

I have at least two immediate clients that need UPS & FedEx shipping rates. Tracking may come later.

I am nearly finished with adding a "Package of Products" feature to Hika Shop, it will need Nicolas' approval.

Then I can move onto the Shipping module.

This all needs to be done in the next couple of weeks, so check back.

Nicolas: Let me know if someone else is working on the Shipping Module and is ready to go live; so that I am not duplicating the effort, no need to re-invent the wheel

I'm also considering HikaShop for several clients, and hooking into the UPS and FedEx APIs is crucial.

Actually, I'm surprised. For some reason, I had assumed it was available in the paid versions of HikaShop!
