Vessel Joomla template and Wordpress theme
Vessel is a premium template built specifically for HikaShop, available for both Joomla and WordPress. It is not a generic template with a shop bolted on: every HikaShop view (product pages, listings, categories, reviews, cart, checkout, etc) is natively styled, so your store looks like a designed boutique out of the box. The same design ships as a Joomla template and as a WordPress Full Site Editing block theme, so HikaShop stores on either platform get the identical storefront. The included Maison Vessel screenshots show the template in context, an editorial, minimal storefront with refined typography, generous whitespace and a calm, natural palette.
Features- Editorial, minimal design with a curated serif / sans typography pairing and a quiet, natural colour palette.
- Fully responsive and mobile-first: every page is laid out for phones, tablets and desktops.
- Composable home page assembled from dedicated module positions: announcement bar, hero banner, category grid, featured products, editorial blocks, materials and a journal / blog teaser row.
- Sticky header with announcement bar, logo, main menu, live search and account / cart icons.
- Multi-column footer (brand block plus four content columns and a bottom bar).
- Styled article and page content, and a blog-style Journal built on Joomla articles or WordPress posts.
- Custom 403, 404 and offline pages that match the design.
- Ships with 15 style presets (see the gallery below), so you can switch the whole look, colours and fonts, in one click from the Joomla template style editor or the WordPress Site Editor, or set your own.
- Clean, controlled CSS and JS loading (Joomla's web asset manager on Joomla, standard block-theme enqueueing on WordPress).

Style presetsVessel ships with 15 one-click style presets that restyle the whole storefront (colours and fonts) from the template style editor. Each picture is the same shop under a different preset. Click one to open the demo in that preset, then change it from the "Use your own style" button.
- All HikaShop's default product page layouts are supported and fully styled: default, sticky, modern, showcase, gallery, full-width, reversed and tabular.
- Styled product listings and category listings.
- HikaShop's User account control panel is also fully styled.
- Characteristics / variant selection with the reveal-on-selection add-to-cart behaviour, quantity stepper and price-with-options display.
- Product custom fields rendered as clean native accordions (for example Composition & Care, Shipping & Returns, The Making, Size & Fit).
- Customer reviews and ratings: styled rating summary, review list and review submission form.
- Styled cart and one-page checkout: login / registration / guest, shipping and payment methods, coupons and order summary.
- Product image gallery, related products and breadcrumbs.
- HikaShop layout block markers are preserved, so the front-end drag-and-drop layout customization keeps working.
- The integration with Joomla / WordPress / HikaShop are done mainly with CSS and JS with only a couple of view overrides so updates of Joomla / WordPress / HikaShop in the future won't break the template.
- Works with every HikaShop edition (Business, Essential and Starter) since the template styles the front end.
- Fully styled HikaMarket multivendor support on the frontend purely with CSS and JS.
Vessel is set up from its template style (Joomla) or the Site Editor (WordPress): a style preset or your own colours and fonts, your logo, the header and footer, and the animations of the home page sections. No file to edit.
WordPress editionVessel also ships as a WordPress Full Site Editing (block) theme: the same design and the same HikaShop styling, delivered the WordPress way. The presets are block style variations in the Site Editor, the header and footer are template parts, and the home page is a ready-made "Home" block pattern with every section of the Joomla home page.
DocumentationThe Vessel setup guide takes a Joomla website from nothing to a complete shop, step by step and with screenshots: installing HikaShop and Vessel, every template setting, the menu, the module positions and the modules of the home page (with the code of each section to paste), and the HikaShop settings that matter for the look of the shop.
The WordPress setup guide does the same with the WordPress theme: installing HikaShop and Vessel, choosing a style and its colours in the Site Editor, the menu, the Home pattern section by section (with the code of each section) and the settings of its HikaShop blocks, the Shop page with its filters, and the HikaShop settings that matter for the look of the shop.
- Built for Joomla 6, and for WordPress 6.7 or later (tested up to WordPress 7)
- Designed for HikaShop 6.4.0 or later, on Joomla or WordPress (works with the Business, Essential and Starter editions)
- Compatible with PHP 8.1 minimum
- Fully responsive (mobile, tablet, desktop)
- No limit of time
- No limit of use
1.0.19 - 3rd of November 2026
- Improvement: on the home page the sections drawn after the main content (the quotes and the final call to action) are inside the main area as well. Before, a screen reader found them outside it.
1.0.18 - 3rd of November 2026
- Improvement: the header menu has a name, "Main menu", so a screen reader can tell it from the other navigations of a page, and the back-to-top link is inside the footer, so it is found in a landmark. Before, the menu was unnamed and the link sat outside every landmark.
- Improvement: a screen reader no longer reads the chevron between the breadcrumb items as a list item of its own. Before, each separator was announced.
- Improvement: on the home page the hero and the sections are inside the page's main area, and "Skip to main content" goes to the top of them. Before, the main area was an empty box after the last section, so a screen reader found no main content and the skip link jumped past everything.
- Bug fix: the help of the Home page effects tab shows the code that makes a number count up, <span class="vessel-count">42</span>. Before, the code was read as HTML and only "42" was shown.
- Bug fix: the quantity in the quantity box of the product page and of the listings is centred in its box. Before, HikaShop's own style pushed it 10 pixels down, and its left edge was drawn twice.
- Bug fix: WordPress: the "New arrivals" products block of the Home pattern shows your eight latest products, from every category, as soon as it is inserted, and the blocks you add later get settings of their own. Before, it often showed nothing until it was set up, and a HikaShop block added later could share its settings or those of the header's cart.
- Bug fix: WordPress: after an update of the theme, browsers load its new stylesheets and script. Before, they could keep the ones of the previous version.
- Bug fix: a page with no menu item of its own (the registration or log in page reached from a link, a page of an extension) shows just its content. Before, it showed the home page's banner and sections around it.
1.0.17 - 30th of October 2026
- Bug fix: on a dark page (the Computer, Nordic and Futuristic styles, or dark colours you choose), the boxes HikaShop and Joomla draw in white are drawn in the style's colours: the customer account menu and its orders, addresses and carts, the profile, the drop-down menus, the date pickers, the product blocks of the modules, the messages and the fields. Before, they stayed white, and the light text of the style was unreadable on them. The template loads one more stylesheet, hikari-dark.css, only on a dark page.
- Bug fix: the fields of the order contact form and of the withdrawal form are as wide as the form. Before, the browser's 40 pixel indent moved them to the right.
1.0.16 - 22nd of October 2026
- Improvement: ready for HikaShop 6.8.0, where an order ends on HikaShop's new thank you page: Vessel shows it in its fonts and colours, with the order, what the payment method asks for (the bank details of a transfer, with copy buttons), what happens next and the order's summary. With an older HikaShop, the page after the payment stays Vessel's own thank you card.
- Bug fix: on WordPress, Vessel's own texts are shown, for example on its thank you card after a payment with HikaShop 6.7 and older. Before, the WordPress theme did not include them and the card showed their codes, like TPL_VESSEL_THANKYOU_TITLE.
1.0.15 - 19th of October 2026
- On the product page, HikaShop's default quantity layout shows the + and - buttons side by side in the quantity box. Before, the - button was hidden behind the + button and could not be clicked.
- Pages load faster: the template's stylesheets are installed minified as well, about half their size, and Joomla and WordPress use those (the readable files are still there, and are used when Debug System is on in Joomla, or SCRIPT_DEBUG in WordPress). On Joomla, Font Awesome is loaded once: HikaShop and other extensions asking for it get the template's copy. Before, pages showing HikaShop content loaded a second Font Awesome stylesheet. If your own CSS names the font "Font Awesome 5 Free", "Font Awesome 5 Brands" or "FontAwesome", use "Font Awesome 6 Free" or "Font Awesome 6 Brands" instead.
1.0.14 - 14th of October 2026
- Your website's tab in the browser shows your logo when it is about square, or Vessel's own mark, when no favicon is set in the template options. Before, it showed the Joomla logo. The favicon of the template options is still used first, on every page, the error and offline pages included.
1.0.13 - 10th of October 2026
- The header cart shows the template's bag icon when the cart module has no icon of its own, and only the module's icon when it has one. Before, the template's icon was taken from an address only hikashop.com has: other websites got an empty box beside the cart and an error for the missing picture in their logs.
- On WordPress, the logo, the search and the account icon lead to your own website's pages, also when WordPress is in a sub-folder, and the footer links to what every shop has: all products, the checkout, your account and creating one. Add your own pages to it in the site editor. Before, these links pointed at the address of the site the theme was made on and led to a "page not found", and the footer listed sample pages (About us, Contact, Journal, Shipping & returns, Size guide, Privacy policy, Terms & conditions) that a new website does not have.
- On a phone or a tablet, HikaMarket's vendor area shows its statistics one under the other. Before, they stayed side by side and the page was about 1000 pixels wider than the screen.
- On WordPress, the header and the footer show your website: its logo when you set one (Appearance > Editor, or Customize), otherwise its title, its tagline under it in the footer, and a copyright line with the current year and your website's name. The header shows the cart's bag icon. Before, they showed the demo's "Maison Vessel" logo, tagline and copyright on every website, and the header had no cart icon.
1.0.12 - 8th of October 2026
- The template's fonts are served by your own website: they are downloaded from Google Fonts once, the first time a page needs them, and your visitors' browsers no longer contact Google, which keeps their IP address away from Google and makes the first page a little faster. On Joomla, the "Fonts from this website" setting brings back Google Fonts if you prefer. Before, every page loaded the fonts from Google.
1.0.11 - 7th of October 2026
- A page keeps the canonical address HikaShop gives it, such as the main product page for the address of one of its variants, and its og:url follows it. Before, the template added a second canonical with the page's own address, which contradicted the first one.
- The category description above a listing uses the full width of the content column, so text you centre in it is centred on the page. Before, it was held to a narrow block on the left, leaving empty space beside it.
- After checkout, your customers see a real thank-you page: a green confirmation, the order number, your thank-you text and buttons to view the order or go back to the shop. Before, the page only showed two short messages.
- The Kunena forum's notifications (new topic or reply, moderator notices, reports) use the same email layout as your site's other emails, with your logo. Before, they came in Kunena's own design.
- In order emails, the download buttons are spaced apart, and a long link such as the account activation address wraps inside the email instead of making it wider than the screen.
- Emails sent by older HikaShop versions no longer show the round icon beside their title, so every email looks the same whichever version sent it.
- The sticky header and the cart drawer stay above PayPal's checkout buttons. Before, the buttons showed over them while scrolling.
- At checkout, the logos of a payment or shipping method sit on one line, and the address fields of PayPal's card form are white like its card fields. Joomla's profile page is styled like the account pages.
- In the checkout cart, the coupon discount line is laid out like the subtotal. Before, its cells were bunched on the left.
- On the product page, the image box takes the size of its image.
1.0.10 - 20th of September 2026
- The collapsible category tree of the sidebar keeps its look on HikaShop 6.6, which now draws the caret as a button of its own beside the category name instead of wrapping the name inside it. Both shapes are styled, so the sidebar looks the same whichever version of HikaShop your shop runs.
- Product images in listings sit centred in their tile on HikaShop 6.6. Before, HikaShop 6.6's taller image frame pushed them below the middle of the tile.
- Error pages, such as "page not found", now show your site's header with its menu, account and cart icons and search, so visitors can carry on browsing. They also use the favicon and logo size set in the template options. Before, they showed only the logo.
- The "Sign in with a passkey" button on the login page shows a small key icon beside its label. Before, the icon was drawn as wide as the button, which made the button very tall.
1.0.9 - 24th of July 2026
- Product badges (New, Sale and any custom badge images) show again in the corner of the product image on listings, instead of collapsing to nothing.
- Product photos now show again in the search results. They were previously broken because the theme looked for them in the wrong image folder.
1.0.8 - 21st of July 2026
- The main product image now shows at its own shape and fills its frame, so wide (landscape) photos no longer leave an empty area underneath them.
- Modules placed in a left or right sidebar now stay inside their column: a wide element such as a reCAPTCHA box can no longer spill across the page content.
1.0.7 - 14th of July 2026
- Added styling for HikaShop's new multi-level category displays in the sidebar. The full "all levels" category tree and the new collapsible version both match the template now: deeper levels are cleanly indented, and in the collapsible tree each parent category shows a gold caret that turns to reveal its sub-categories when clicked, with the category you are currently viewing highlighted.
1.0.6 - 5th of July 2026
- The text filter's autocomplete now matches the template: the suggestion dropdown, the source labels and the product cards use the editorial palette and typography instead of HikaShop's default dropdown look.
1.0.5 - 24th of June 2026
- Fixed the product specifications accordion: it now keeps its formatting after you select a colour or size, instead of reverting to a plain table.
1.0.4 - 18th of June 2026
- The price (cursor) filter is now styled for any filter you create, not only the default price filter.
- In a single-level dropdown menu, the sub-menu links now match the main menu's font and size.
1.0.3 - 17th of June 2026
- Product listings now keep a consistent full-width action button across all of HikaShop's item box layouts (image and title, image only, image and description, and so on), not just the default one.
- The quantity selector on product listings now uses the same clean stepper box as the product page, instead of plain buttons.
1.0.2 - 16th of June 2026
- Fixed the header on small screens: the page no longer scrolls sideways on mobile and the menu (hamburger) button always stays visible. The search, account and cart now show as icons on mobile.
- Your custom CSS and JS (user.css and user.js) are now kept when you update the template, instead of being reset.
- Made the Add to cart button on product listings full width, so it matches the Choose options button on the other cards.
1.0.1 - 12th of June 2026
- Added the WordPress edition: Vessel is now available as a WordPress Full Site Editing block theme, with the same design, the style presets as block style variations, and native HikaShop styling.
1.0.0 - 5th of June 2026
- Initial release of the Vessel template.
- Type
- Template
- Compatibility
- Joomla 6 and up
