SSL redirect for checkout

Hi, I am trying to redirect checkout to SSL without much luck. I have been searching the forum & net and comeup with the below but this does not seem to work?

Hi there,

The last Hikashop version include a shared SSL option in the main configuration, you should take a look at it .
System>Configuration>Checkout option "Force SSL on checkout".

Tried it and gives error;

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /index.php/component/hikashop/checkout on this server.

also tried with the code in shared SSL as this is a shared SSL.

What is the address you set for this option?

replace correct web bit with xxxxxx

Does this address works with your website and without anything else?
Could you give it to me? If it doesn't work like this then it's probably the address which is wrong and the origin of the issue.

Thanks for contacting us. This is the correct URL but it looks like the Joomla rewrite files (htaccess) and other configuration are interfering with this. I would advise checking on the Joomla forums for work arounds because by default Joomla does not work under the shared SSL.

the address does work as I have also checked it.

We know that shared SSL works with some hosts and Joomla's users but maybe your host has conflict with it.
You should look forward about issues between this host and joomla because I can't help you anymore.

There must be some other way of using the php files to configure this? plus as a Hikashop Business user into my second year I don't think that's a very good response.

There is nothing else to configure in HikaShop. Once you enter the SSL URL in the configuration, HikaShop will redirect the checkout from your non SSL version to your SSL version.
If you get an error after the redirection, it probably means that the SSL website is not working.
That's why eliot asked you the SSL URL so that he could make sure that it's working.
I don't see any reason which would require a change in HikaShop code.
Could you please give the SSL URL you're using ?

You don't need to hide it.

That link is not displaying anything. I'm getting the error:
Not Found
The requested URL /mohairbearmakingsupplies.co.uk/ was not found on this server.

Normally, before you activate the SSL redirection on HikaShop, that URL has to display your website.
Since that is not the case, it's normal that it doesn't work.

Having that URL display your website is something which should be setup by your hosting company normally. As I feared, it seems that your hosting company does not configure the shared SSL URL so that it automatically displays your website.

Unfortunately, we can't do anything on that and as eliot said, you'll need to see that with your hosting company.
Once you have your website displaying when you go to web110.secure-secure.co.uk/mohairbearmakingsupplies.co.uk/ then you can simply enter that URL in the shared SSL option of HikaShop and it should work.
