Could not instantiate mail function.

I update to the latest version and experience the "Could not instantiate mail function." when trying to place order. Iam using google hosted mail service.

I think that you'll probably find your answer there :

In the global configuration of joomla, under the server tab, you have a zone where you can configure your email settings:
help.joomla.org/content/view/1445/196/
Once you configured them accordingly to your hosting recommendations, that message should not appear anymore and the emails should be sent.

i have configure the setting to work with hikashop befor, the problem started when i upgrade hiksahop and receive a complaint from a user..

any suggestion?

I don't think that it's coming from Hikashop, because Hikashop use Joomla mail function, so you can for example try to send a mail through Joomla and see that the problem is not coming from Hikashop.

yup, I have check the joomla forum the latest joomla 2.5.6 sometime(on certain hosting) having a problem with mail function with the safe mode set to enable...

Problem is resolved by replacing the phpmailer library with the 2.5.4 version.
