USPS and Media Rate?

Are there any plans to update the USPS module with Media rate option?

If not, what have others done to access that feature?

I'm in charge of the USPS shipping module so I'll try to gather some information and to update the USPS shipping plugin if possible .

That would be great (media rate is just a basic rate based upon weight).

Is it possible to also add other services - like

- priority mail flat rate
- express mail flat rate

(These two need to take into consideration the size of the item being shipped - and possibly use multiple packages).

Sorry to be asking for so much, but would it be possible to set a 'minimum shipping charge' field?

So that we can set "$5.00" as a minimum charge and that would be used, even if the rate from USPS is returned lower than that.

i.e. if the USPS rate ends up being $3.95 and our 'minimum charge' is set at $5.00, the shipping charge displayed/charged would be $5.00

The USPS shipping module will require a lot of change so I'll try to do it after all these changes.

Wow ... it appears that the USPS hasn't 'kept up' with the other shipping options.

Also missing is the minimum/maximum weight. So if you are selling 'virtual products' it always comes up.

Unfortunately, we've had to disable USPS shipping for now. Hoping that this can get done soon.

[If you can provide tips of where to look (which files) I could give a crack at adding some of these 'filters' based on other shipping systems.]

I wasn't the one who developed it so it will take me some time to do it but I'll let you know when the USPS changes will be done .

Can you tell me if the USPS plugin now handles Media Rate?

(Also, does it handle the changes tot eh USPS Web Tools API that are planned to go into effect on July 28 2013?)

It still doesn't.
The update of the 28th shouldn't change anything regarding the plugin functioning from what we could see.
