Downloading a PDF file from a product view

What is the best method/extension to download a PDF view of a product?

Is it directly supported by the HikaShop Component?

It is supported in HikaShop by default yes. You can use the "files" area of the product edition screen for that.

I meant:

As in any Joomla Article you can enable the e-mail or the PDF icon to send by email or to Download a PDF file with what you have on screen.

I want to do this with HikaShop products as if they were joomla articles.

To click a button and have a PDF file downloading with the content showing on screen.

Any suggestion on this?

This is a key feature that I took for granted when selecting HikaShop, now I face an unconfortable situation in front of my client!

As far as I know Joomla has removed the PDF possibility on Joomla articles since Joomla 1.6 and all the versions of Joomla prior to 2.5 are not supported anymore by the joomla project. Thus we cannot provide that capability easily in HikaShop as we would have to include our own PDF library (not impossible but it would be bigger than all the rest of the files of the current package, and it would also require some work to make it possible).

You could potentially develop a plugin to add that capability on HikaShop product pages as we provide triggers to be able to do that.

This are SAD NEWS! I didn't now Joomla had abandoned this PDF download option!

Then maybe somebody could give me some idea on how to achieve this "not so good" alternative:

A button to open a new window with the hika content without all the other elements in the Joomla site (no menus, no modules, no nothing except the content area).

The link you provide uses the "tmpl=component" feature of Joomla in order to display the product page with a different design.
It does not generates a PDF file and this is something you can implement in your website (with HikaShop).
It requires some PHP skills but, you can change the view content depending this "tmpl" parameter.*
