Normally my customer charges taxes for products sold on line. I have it set up to automatically calculate and add them. But what if a customer is tax exempt, like a school, achurch or a non-profit organization? What is the best way to handle that? Can they provide a tax exempt id which can then be configured so they are not automatically charged taxes?
I think that you have to use the VAT system, and manage the taxes depending on the VAT status of the customer.
In Display > Custom fields, you can enable the field for the VAT, then in the tax configuration restrict a tax to a customer VAT type.
