Hikashop - what happens with duplicate invoice num

Hi guys we've had a situation where we're altered the setup of paypal which seemed to reset the invoice numbers back to running from 0. What happens if hikashop attempts to create an order with an existing invoice number. If paypal communicates with hikashop what does it use as the unique identifier?

Is it possible for paypal to send back a message of "confirmed" to the wrong order if two orders are created with the same invoice number?

It's not possible to have two orders with the same number. It's HikaShop which creates that number not paypal.
So the only thing possible is that hikashop creates an order which has the same number as an order you previously had on your paypal account and paypal would display an error to the user and refuse it. But that won't happen in your case.
