Tip. How to link hika categories to joomla menus was created by progreccor

First of all let's I explain the problem.

Let's see to the typical hikashop site: www.moskvazakaz.ru/

here is the screensshot of it's main page.

the main page is hikashop categories listing. Great. We can see two categories.
And what if want to show one joomla module (may be shock price or something else) only on one hikashop subcategory?

I can create two joomla menues that lead to the same hikashop subcategories. Great!
If I click on the menu item it is all working.... but...

What if I click on the main page? I can see First category there too and may want to click there...

What a great disappointment! I can't see my module! Why?
Because joomla menu and hikashop categories have different adresses...

What should I do now?

Here is my way to solve the problem:

let's go to the hikashop configuration and in SEF url options clear Category SEF name

After all let's go to the joomla menu item for the first category in the menu on the right of the site and set the alias for it the same as the last suffix of URL of hikashop category as you can see on the picture:

Do the same thing to the second category.

and voila...

It's all working!

What do you think, Nicolas, about this way to solve the problem?

And what do you think, Nicolas, if hikashop will automatically generate this hidden joomla menus for all hikashop categories? (like hikashop do now for content modules ?)

I think that this way will help most people who use hikashop now.

Could you change hikashop for this?

I think that it's a good idea.

I think that the best would be to add a column in the category table to save a menu id for each category.
Then, when a category is saved, a hidden menu would be created for it and the menu id would be set in the category menu id column (that could be done via a plugin so that it can be deactivated easily).
Then, on category listings, instead of using the current menu id for the Itemid parameter of the URLs, the system would use the menu id of the category if specified.
That way, regardless from where you are coming you would always have the same URL for one listing.

That idea was proposed last week so it's not possible to add it that fast in HikaShop. You'll have to wait more.

Ok thanks for letting us know. we can wait. until then i have installed ReDJ plugin and set the redirection of all hikashop categories to the joomla menu addresses. its working for me

I didn't know about that plugin.
That's actually a really nice plugin to change the URLs so that you don't get doublons.
What kind of redirection rules did you use ?

I am using 301 redirection (case insensitive). i am not sure how google will store them but its working for the time being util an update. what do you think?

The alias should be used on all the links so you should not have that problem.

On which page of your website is the link zlenko.pro/buy/1c/1-%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D...0%B8%D1%86%D0%B0-pro which uses the product name and not the product alias ?

Ok. The xmap plugin was not updated yet to use the product alias for the URLs. That has been modified now. You can download again the plugin on our website and install it on your website to get the modification.
