Digital products requesting address on shipping

-- Joomla version -- : 3.10.11
-- PHP version -- : 8.0.28

I have digital products on my site and when I go through the process of downloading it is asking for shipping information. How do I fix this? I also have physical products on the site which will need the shipping process. The digital products do not have any weight in the restrictions and dimension section. I am also using UPS and USPS as my shipping provider. Thanks

Hi,

You probably have the "force shipping regardless of weight" setting turned on under the Checkout tab of the HikaShop configuration page.

I just checked again, cleared my cache, and browsing history but on checkout, it still asks for the address. Thanks

Hi,

Well, that's the billing address, not the shipping address.
The shipping address is only asked when the product needs to be shipped, but the billing address is always asked. It's usually necessary for the invoice, and also for tax calculations.

Thank you for that information, Is it possible to disable that for downloadable products because people will ask why do they need to give an address when nothing is being shipped or billed? I have downloaded ebooks from other websites and the other thing they ask for is the name and email address.

Hi,

In the settings of the custom fields, in the menu Display>Custom fields, you can configure the custom fields so that some of them are only used for shipping addresses.
Also, under the Checkout tab of the HikaShop configuration, you can configure the address area in order to only ask for the shipping address.

Hi,

HikaShop can ask for both a billing address and a shipping address.
So for products with a weight, the shipping address will be asked to the customer even if you configure the address block of the checkout to only ask for the shipping address.
So it's not a problem to do what I said in my previous message even if you sell both physical and digital products.
