Broken thumbnails in search if image doesn't exist

Hi,
we use the suggested method of including an image path in our csv uploads/updates to ensure that the correct images will be displayed when they are uploaded (possibly at a later date). This means that an unprofessional looking image/thumbnails is shown in search results (e.g. eb ajax and smart search) where the image is unavailable.
Is there anything you can do or suggest to prevent this from happening (e.g. force it to show the generic image)? The eb ajax search guys said that they'll look into this for us as well.

In HikaShop, we do have some code which checks that the image is available, and if not, it will use the default image configured in the HikaShop configuration.
For eb ajax, I suppose they could add a similar check on their end.
For smart search, it would require modifying one or two views of com_finder but I'm not sure which ones. It would require a developer to work on this. The research to find what to do where is probably a lot longer than actually writing the code.

If there were a way to get a csv list of products without images, we could do an import to change them to point to a single generic image. Any help with this interim approach would be appreciated.

Hi,

The export button of the products listing will provide a CSV with a column "images", however, this is the data in the database, and doesn't take into account whether the image is actually there or not.
I'm afraid coding an export to do this would require more time and cost more than directly modifying the smart search view override.
