Category Description not showing (Essential)

Hi I have found the similar queries in your forum but no answer to this.
I have set Category Description "Show description = Yes" in the Hikashop menu item but the category description does not show.
I have edited the file "show_default" via the menu Display>Views and moved the code block related to the description and social media icons for the product view but I don't believe this would affect the category description?

UPDATE I have reverted the show_default.php page back to default and the category description is still not displaying.

Ok I understand this now I was hoping the show description would show the Category Description in under the thumbnail and title of the category - now I see the category description only shows above the products in that category. How can I add Category Description to the grid view showing all the categories?

Do you want to show the description for each categories of the listing ?
If it is, so you just have to change the option "Type of layout" on "Div" and "Type of item layout" on "Image and description in the category listing menu.

Hi,
this topic is six years old, and I have the same problem. I entered in the categorie a short description.
In the main menu entry "category listing" I have in the tab "categories options" in the DIV View "Show categorie description" on "YES".
Layouttype "Image and description" or "image and title" makes no difference. No description is shown.

Maybe you're not editing the correct menu item.
You should be editing the menu item with the alias "zeitkaufhaus-ladenkategorien". Is that the one you're looking at in your Joomla menu manager ?

Hi,

To display the description of the main category, you can indeed turn on the "show description" setting of the menu item, and for the description of each sub category in the categories listing, you need to select the "image and description" layout.
Note however that if you have some caching on your website/browser, you need to clear it to see the change after changing the settings.

Then I don't see what it could be besides the categories' description being empty.
Or maybe it's a bug because you have a really old version of HikaShop ?
Maybe updating to the latest version will help so I would recommend trying that.
If that doesn't help either, we would need a backend access and a FTP access to check the situation directly.
