HikaAuction 6.0.0 is a major release: HikaAuction now works on WordPress alongside HikaShop for WordPress. This version also introduces Dutch auctions, multi-currency bidding, live page updates, WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility, and many improvements to the bidding experience.
Let's dive into what's new in this release.

Required HikaShop version : 4.4.4 or newer

What's new :

HikaAuction on WordPress

W HIKAAUCTION

Following HikaShop's arrival on WordPress, HikaAuction now runs on WordPress too. You can install it as a WordPress plugin alongside HikaShop for WordPress, bringing full auction functionality to WordPress-based stores.

We've also added Gutenberg blocks for WordPress: "Product Auction" to display the bid interface on product pages, "My Bids" to display the user's bidding history, and "Won Auctions" to display the user's won auctions with payment status.

Dutch Auction Mode

Price

A new "Dutch auction" mode is now available alongside the existing Vickrey and English modes. In a Dutch auction, the price starts high and drops by a configurable amount at regular intervals. The first buyer to accept the current price wins immediately.

The price drop amount, interval, and floor price (via the reserve price setting) are all configurable. The price countdown updates live in the browser so buyers can watch the price go down in real time. This mode is great for perishable goods, event tickets, or any situation where you want to sell quickly at a market-driven price.

Multi-Currency Bidding

$ ¥

HikaAuction now supports multi-currency auctions. All bids are stored in the product's base currency for consistency. When a user bids in a different currency, the amount is automatically converted at the current exchange rate before validation and saving.

Prices are displayed in the product's currency, with an approximate conversion shown in the user's preferred currency when they differ. This makes it easy for international bidders to participate in your auctions without confusion.

Live Updates

NEW BID! !

The auction page now features live updates. When a new bid is submitted by another user or when the auction ends, the page updates automatically without requiring a full page refresh. Notifications are displayed on the auction page in real time so bidders always have the latest information.

Additionally, the auction information panel (countdown timer, prices, bid buttons) now stays visible at the top right of the page when scrolling down through the auction history and other page content.

Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)

We've done a thorough WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility pass across all auction pages. This includes screen-reader labels for all form inputs, ARIA live regions for bid validation errors and live notifications, an accessible countdown timer with periodic screen-reader announcements, proper button elements instead of anchor links, fixed color contrast, non-color indicators for user's own bids, data table captions, and much more.

These improvements make HikaAuction usable by everyone, regardless of their abilities.

More Improvements

+

Beyond the headline features, HikaAuction 6.0.0 includes many other improvements:

  • Auction status badges on product listings (Upcoming, Live, Sold, Unsold, Cancelled) with configurable position.
  • Won Auctions page in the user control panel where winners can see all their won auctions, check payment status, and pay directly.
  • Reserve price setting so you can configure a minimum price under which bids will be refused.
  • Hidden bid amounts option in auction history so that other bidders cannot see maximum bids.
  • Max bid popup for a cleaner bidding interface with bid increment bidding in Vickrey and English modes.
  • HikaShop checkout integration enabled by default for new installations, with a ready-made checkout workflow tailored for auctions.
  • Plugin events for HikaAuction (onBeforeBidSave, onAfterAuctionClose, etc.) so that developers can extend auction functionality.
  • 50+ language translations for all new features.
  • Support for HikaShop's user control panel sidebar on the Bids and Won Auctions pages.
